How Thick Are Bathroom Stall Panels?

The importance of a high-quality commercial bathroom partition is essential. When we are away from home, we look to bathroom stalls to provide us with an adequate amount of comfort and privacy. That is why choosing the right bathroom partition walls for your business is crucial and contributes to your business's well-being.

Deciding upon the right material depends on a few factors:

  • Cost
  • Strength
  • Appearance
  • Regulations
  • Fire classification

All these factors play a role in successfully choosing which partition materials are the best for your business. However, each material undoubtedly provides benefits that are long-lasting and resilient.

It's best to look at your environment and decide what you aim to achieve. Consider the look you're going for and how much traffic happens in the background. Also, think about the environment's safety and how you can prevent any potential problems.

Since commercial restrooms are susceptible to fires, this factor is especially vital to keep in mind. Once this is done, consider the other factors as well.

In terms of appearance, carefully choosing which partition suits your business is critical. The way a bathroom stall wall looks dramatically affects how users feel in the environment. The style and color options vary depending upon the material. However, there is a style and color ideal for every type of business.

Is your business one that is constantly in a humid environment, such as a locker room? Is it in a dry place such as a restaurant? These are factors to take into consideration during the decision-making process.

Stall Dimensions and Thickness

Bathroom stall wall thickness is determined by the size and formation of the space it's built in. Each material is designed according to the size of the wall. The pilaster, which helps support the partitions, also varies in thickness.

Pilasters measure between ¾ and 1 ¼ inches thick. The standard measurement for bathroom stall dimensions is 30 inches wide and 60 inches deep. The minimum depth is 48 inches, and the maximum depth is 78 inches. Hardware to connect the stall wall and the doors are as big as 8 inches or as little as 2 ½ inches.

Another reason thickness varies in partition walls is how the walls are built. The material for the core and the shell layer of the wall are distinctive according to the wall type. Each material differs in strength and permanence. This differentiation is something to keep in mind when choosing between materials for the partition.

What Is Inside of a Bathroom Stall Wall?

Stall walls or partitions come in a variety of types. They are each made from various materials, and each material serves a beneficial purpose. Every wall encapsulates these materials. They contribute to the firmness, texture, and durability of the partition.

These materials also come in different styles and contribute to the general look of an environment. For instance, a stainless steel partition adds a very polished look, whereas solid plastic partitions add a modern conservative look.

In terms of the overall structure, partitions are made from quite a few parts. The inside of each piece works with the others to help keep everything stable, secure, and functioning. Components include panels, pilaster shoes, headrails, pilasters, brackets, hinges, doors, and latches.

Powder-Coated Steel Wall

Powder-coated steel bathroom stall walls are 1 inch in dimension. The core consists of honeycomb-patterned cardboard. Steel sheets are placed on the top of the cardboard on both sides to provide more stability. The outer steel layer is covered in a powder color which bonds through a baking process.

Powder-coated steel is also a lightweight material, making installation easy. It's also easy to clean, recyclable, and fire-resistant.

Solid Plastic Wall

The inside of a solid plastic bathroom wall partition is made from HDPE or high-density polyethylene. HDPE is long-lasting with the ability to resist severe wear and tear. The material is non-porous, which means no air or liquid can move through it. Since the external surface is solid, you don't have to worry about rust, water, graffiti, or mold damaging the walls.

A partition made from HDPE is unique as it is resistant to mildew and mold. It is also recyclable and 1 inch in thickness. In addition, keeping this material clean is simple. You can use water or most cleaners without having to worry about damaging the walls.

Laminate Wall

The inside of laminate bathroom partitions is made of MDF or medium-density fiberboard. This material is very pliable and compression-resistant. It's ideal for bathroom partitions since it is also warp-resistant. In addition, it doesn't contract or expand once in contact with moisture or changing temperatures.

This material is also 1 inch thick and termite resistant, allowing it to last longer.

Phenolic Wall

The inside of the phenolic bathroom wall has a solid black core, and the partition consists of polymerized phenolic resin. It is created through a process of pressure, polymerization, and heat. The result is a strong thermoset plastic. Because this material bonds so strongly, dirt, mold, and other particles can't get in. It's high density, extremely durable, and water-resistant. This material can withstand lots of moisture in extreme conditions.

Phenolic partitions are ideal for high-traffic areas and are also resistant to vandalism.

Stainless Steel Wall

Stainless steel partitions have a hollow honeycomb core and are lightweight. Although they aren't heavy, stainless steel partitions are durable. They can endure through various environments for prolonged periods. Consistent use of any bathroom with enclosures can cause normal wear and tear. For stainless steel, you need to buff out any stains or scratches.

These partitions are able to withstand substantial impacts and force. They also provide a clean look and a lot of safety. This particular material is one of the most fire-resistant. It's 1 inch thick and rust-resistant. Maintenance is minimal, and water and soap are all it takes to keep them clean and presentable.

Choosing a supplier who isn't reputable and experienced could end up being costly. Ordering the wrong parts could not only result in overspending on partitions, but could also result in delaying your project. Whoever you buy from (we hope it's us!), make sure an experienced pro creates your order so that you have everything you need to complete the project.
